Fate on the Stars’ side?
May 13, 2008
After the Detroit Red Wings defeated the Dallas Stars 5-2 on Monday night, the Stars find themselves facing the dreaded 3-0 series deficit. Its over, right? They have no chance, right? Well, here is something to chew on while we await game four:
Only three times in the history of the major team sports has a team come back from the 3-0 deficit. It has happened twice in hockey. Yes, that is a very low percentage. Now, here is the crazy part. In 1942, the Toronto Maple Leafs came back from a 3-0 deficit against the Detroit Red Wings to win Lord Stanley’s Cup. 33 years later, the New York Islanders defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins in the quarter-final round of the playoffs after falling behind 3-0.
Fast forward to 33 years later. Its 2008. The Stars find themselves down 3-0.
Coincidence…or fate?
